CENTERS OF EXCELLENCE
Over our 25+ year history, the Miami-Dade AHEC has developed and deployed health education programs for community members and health professionals. Building on these community based foundations, the Miami-Dade AHEC has brought together a team and community partnerships to provide leadership, evangelization, best practices, research, support and training around certain focus areas consistent with our mission.
These areas of focus include:
- Community Health Workers
- Health Education, Prevention and Screening for the medically disenfranchised
Our Centers of Excellence encapsulates the vision for advancing our work in these areas on a larger scale in our community and around the State of Florida. The two (2) Centers of Excellence are as follows:

All of our Programs are conducted through the Health Self Collaboratory (HSC), with primary focus on Community Health Workers and Health Professions Students in the role of Community Health Educators.
Current HSC programs include:
- Stanford Chronic Disease Self Management Program (CDSMP)
- Community Based Colorectal Cancer Education & Screening
- Community Based Prostate Education & Screening
- Community Based Alzheimers Education
- Community Based Breast Cancer Education & Screening
- Tobacco Cessation
- Healthy Heart
All of our programs with few exceptions are offered in English, Spanish and Creole.
